HEAVY ION THERAPY

HEAVY ION THERAPY (Carbon ion radiotherapy)
is a radiation therapy that aims to destroy cancer cells using carbon particles, which are 12 times heavier than the hydrogen particles used in proton therapy.

As an innovative cancer treatment, it has been found to produce therapeutic effects (e.g. biological effects, cell killing ability, etc.) that are two to three times greater than those of conventional radiotherapy.

The number of treatments varies depending on the type of cancer, but it is the latest treatment that is highly convenient for patients as it does not require hospitalization and has few side effects. In Japan and Germany, where carbon ion radiotherapy has already begun, it is used for most cancers except blood cancers and many metastatic cancers.
